Mysuru: In a tragic incident, a helpless father, who could not cope up with the moneylenders pestering for money that was borrowed by his son, ended life by setting himself ablaze at BGS Vidyapeeth.
The deceased is Raghunath Rao (57). He used to run a bakery in BGS Vidyapeeth premises. On Tuesday, at about 6.30 am he had come to the bakery and set himself ablaze in the bakery toilet.
It is said that Rao’s son Prashanth who is an employee in the railways had borrowed a lot of money as loan from moneylenders. Since he was avoiding them, the moneylenders had started pestering Rao, very often even shouting and hurling abuses outside the bakery.
It is said that Vidyapeeth Seer had warned Rao and also asked him to vacate the bakery from the premises on March 1. Reeling under immense pressure from all quarters, Rao took the drastic step.
