Mysuru: The stage is set for the much awaited Jumboo Savari. Thousands of people from across the country including foreigners are expected to witness the procession which is expected start from the palace premises and culminate at Bannimantap ground. A 750kg golden throne which will be carried by Arjuna will leave the palace at around 4.30pm and reach Bannimantap ground after 6.30pm.
Various cultural troupes and nearly 45 tableaus from all the districts will be part of the procession. The eleven day Dasara festival will later conclude after torchlight parade at Bannimantap ground which will start at 8pm. District administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event. Police have made elaborate security arrangements all through the procession route. Police personnel from various districts have been roped in for security.
Due to Cauvery agitation and drought like situation across the district and also in state, the district administration had decided not to conduct Dasara this year in a grand manner. It was also a challenging task for Deputy Commissioner D Sandeep who had taken charge as DC just a few weeks before the start of the Dasara. Initially, the crowd was less but it picked up later. Especially in the last week, there were a lot of tourists to Mysuru.
