Bengaluru: The state government has released Rs 5 crore for the construction of late Dr Vishnuvardhan’s memorial in Mysuru. The state government had earlier announced to allocate Rs 11 crore for the construction of Dr Vishnuvardhan’s memorial. Now it has released Rs 5 crore out of the total amount of Rs 11 crore.
Bharathi Vishnuvardhan expressed gratitude to the state government for not only removing the hurdles for the construction of Dr Vishnuvardhan memorial near Mysuru by allocating five acres of land but also releasing Rs 5 crore on the occasion of Dr Vishnuvardhan’s 66th birthday today (Sunday). “I hope the construction work on the memorial commences shortly,’’ Bharathi said.
On Dr Vishnuvardhan’s birthday, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan decided to provide education to children. Blood donation camp, health camp and eye checkup were orgnaised on the occasion.
It may be recalled that the state government had planned to construct Dr Vishnuvardhan’s memorial at Abhiman Studios near Katriguppe by allocating two acres of land, but the plan was shelved with Dr Vishnuvardhan’s family members preferring Mysuru as a suitable place for Dr Vishnuvardhan’s memorial.
