Mysuru: The Forest Department has constructed a swimming pool at Koorgalli Rehabilitation Centre exclusively for elephants.
At Koorgalli, the Zoo authority has provided shelter to aged and rescued animals. This rehabilitation center is large and is treating aged and injured leopards, tiger,s and other animals.
The Forest Officers said that most aged elephants here suffering from arthritis and water can be the best cure for it. Therefore, on an experimental basis, the Zoo Authority has constructed a swimming pool, perhaps for the first time in the country.
The officials added that the elephants like water and are enjoying the pool experience.
