Mysuru: The Saraswathipuram Police successfully nabbed a cattle thief who used to make fake calls to police control room here on September 19.
Shivaraj, a resident of Anand Nagar, A Block is the arrested.
On September 17, he was stopped by patrol police while he was trying to escape with a stolen cow belonging to one Mahadeva in Rajajinagar. During questioning, he confessed to have stolen the cattle.
Two months ago, he had called up the control room and claimed that he was abducted. Once again last month, he had called up control room and faked a robbery story and claimed that he had been robbed by a gang of thieves and looted of Rs 1 lakh. In both the cases, while questioning it was revealed that he faked stories. He was sent back with a warning.
Thereafter the cops had kept an on eye on him and on Sunday, he was caught red-handed with a stolen cow worth Rs 40,000. He has been sent to police custody.
