Mysuru: To promote tourism in Kodagu, which was devastated by flood in August last year, Kodagu district administration in association with Department of Tourism will be conducting three day ‘Kodagu Pravasi Utsav’ from January 11 to 13.
After natural calamities hit Kodagu, tourism was suspended for more than a month. As a result tourism sector got severely affected. Therefore, to promote tourism and give new lease of life to the sector, Department of Tourism along with district administration took initiative to organize a three day Utsav. The event will also help tourism sector in Mysuru, as most of the tourists who want to take part in the Utsav should travel via Mysuru.
Various programs have been arranged for the three day event, including flower show at Raja Seat and Cultural program at Gandhi Maidan, from January 11 to 13, between 4 PM to 10 PM. A dog show will be held at Gandhi Maidan on January 12 from 10 AM to 2 PM, and Kodagu Open Street Festival at Raja Seat road will be held on January 13 between 8 AM and 5 PM. To attract tourism from not only across the state but also from neighboring states, tourism department is also planning to come out with various tour packages. The event will also help to revive tourism in Kodagu. A meeting in this regard was held a few days ago.
The event is being organised by Kodagu district administration in association with Department of Tourism, Horticulture Department, Veterinary Department, Hotel owners Association, Home Stay Association, Travel Association and Chamber of Commerce.
