Tiger rescued from trap at Ponnampet dies in Mysuru rehab centre

Mysuru: The tiger that was injured after being trapped at a coffee estate in Ponnampete of Kodagu succumbed to its injuries at Chamundi Wildlife Rehab Centre at Kurgalli, Mysuru.

The tiger had fallen into the trap laid for wild boars on January 17. Though the forest officials rescued it the next day and sent it to Kurgalli, the tiger did not respond to the treatment and succumbed to injuries. The tiger had suffered severe injuries of the leg, which developed infection. However, the tiger died at the wee hours of Saturday despite being given treatment. The post mortem of the tiger will be held on Saturday and its samples have been sent to a lab in Bengaluru. With a report, the reason behind the death of the tiger will be ascertained.
