In a shocking incident near Hunsur taluk, a man lost his life following a tiger attack in Nagapur 5th Block.
The victim, identified as Harish, a local resident of the area, was reportedly tending to his goats in a nearby field when the big cat suddenly mauled him. The attack left him critically wounded, with deep injuries inflicted by the wild predator.
Bystanders and fellow villagers rushed to assist him and transported him towards the nearest medical facility, but despite their efforts, Harish succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
The Nagapur locality, where the tragedy occurred, falls under the jurisdiction of Gurupur Gram Panchayat, within the Hunsur taluk of Mysuru district. The area is known for frequent wildlife movements, especially close to forest fringes.
The Hunsur Rural Police have been informed and are coordinating with forest department officials to investigate the matter and ensure the safety of other villagers. Authorities are also expected to review the presence and movement of wild animals in the region to prevent further incidents.
This unfortunate death has sparked concerns among local farmers and shepherds, who often depend on forest-bordering lands for grazing. Calls for better fencing, patrolling, and compensation to the victim’s family have begun surfacing in the community.
