After a nine-hour search and rescue operation, the body of a worker trapped beneath the rubble of a collapsed portion of the old building at Maharani’s Women’s Science College in Mysuru, Karnataka, was recovered around 1:45 AM on Wednesday. The building, located on Jhansi Lakshmi Bai (JLB) Road, collapsed during restoration work on Tuesday evening at approximately 4:55 PM.

More than 100 emergency personnel, including members from the Fire and Emergency Services, Police Department, Mysore City Corporation, and the NGO Humanitarian Relief Society, worked tirelessly to clear the debris in hopes of rescuing the worker alive. Unfortunately, the operation ended in tragedy.

The victim, 32-year-old Saddam, a resident of Ajeejsait Nagar, Mysuru, was fatally injured during the collapse. His remains were transported to the mortuary at Mysore Medical College and Research Institute.

Saddam’s family, including his wife and two young daughters, along with numerous relatives, waited anxiously near the college gate, enduring cold temperatures and dust. They were devastated when they received the tragic news of his death.
