Karnataka Police have detained two suspects in Mysuru after a young woman reported being gang-raped on Sunday. The victim, who met the accused at a local pub, filed a complaint with the Vijayanagar police. According to initial reports, after socializing at the pub and consuming alcohol together, the accused lured her to a lodge where the alleged assault took place.

The police have obtained CCTV footage showing the victim and one of the suspects spending time together at the pub, as well as both individuals entering and exiting the lodge. During the incident, the main suspect reportedly invited a relative to the lodge, though authorities are still investigating the full sequence of events.

A police statement clarified that the BNS section for gang rape was included in the FIR based on the victim’s complaint. While the victim has not sustained any injuries, the police continue to verify the facts of the case.

This incident recalls a high-profile gang-rape case in Mysuru from August 2021, in which seven assailants attacked a college student near Chamundi Hill. That case led to extensive protests and a strong response from public figures and law enforcement.
