Two day international conference on Speech Processing to be held in Mysuru

Mysuru: All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), in association with the International Speech Communication Association, will be organising two day International workshop on ‘Speech Processing’ at AIISH seminar hall on September 8 and 9. Rainer Martin from Germany and Kris Demuynck from Belgium will be the keynote speakers.

The two-day workshop will focus on the speech processing issues that are prevalent in speech and hearing disorders. The workshop will be attended by more than 50 experienced researchers (representing 12 different Nations) working in the speech, language and hearing disorders and speech processing areas. There will be six invited talks, four sessions of oral presentations and one poster session in the workshop.

Rainer Martin from Ruhr-University, Bochum, Germany and Kris Demuynck from Data Science Lab, Ghent University, Belgium would be the keynote speakers. Martin’s talk would be on “Speech and Music Enhancement for Hearing Impaired Listeners” and Kris would speak on “an e-health tool for training and evaluating pathological speakers”. Dr. Harinath Garudadri (UC San Diego’s Qualcomm Institute, California) and S.R.Mahadeva Prasanna (IIT, Guwahati) would be the other invited speakers. Dr. M. Pushpavathi and Dr. N. Sreedevi from AIISH will also deliver invited talks.

Ajish K Abraham, the Coordinator of the workshop said that thirty-one research papers will be presented in the workshop. The research areas covered by these papers include speech processing for voice disorders, hearing disorders and speech and language disorders. The paper presenters include researchers from Arizona State University, Idiap Research Institute, Switzerland, Ghent University, Belgium, Birzeit University, Palestine, Institute of Communication Acoustics, Bochum, Germany & University of Sheffield, UK. Researchers from prestigious institutes in the country such as IIT, Bombay, IIT, Guwahati, IIIT, Hyderabad & IIIT, and faculty from AIISH, Mysuru will also present their research work.

The inaugural function of the workshop is scheduled at 9.30 a.m. at Seminar Hall, Knowledge Park on September 8. Dr. S.R. Savithri, Director, AIISH will preside.
