Mysuru: Here is good news for the guest faculties working at University of Mysore! From coming academic year based on UGC recommendation and its norms, guest faculties will be paid a minimum of Rs 25,000 per month.
As of now, guest faculties working at University of Mysore (UoM) are not getting uniform salaries. Those working at Yuvaraja college are paid Rs 35,000 while others are getting Rs 20,000, 15,000 and even 10,000. After going through this disparity, UGC decided to come out with a minimum salary of Rs 25,000 for guest faculties. There are more than 400 guest faculties working in various colleges affiliated to UoM.
Surprise check to keep tab on teaching faculties:
A team including Dayanand Mane (In-charge), Vice Chancellor of UoM has been formed to keep tab on teaching faculties. “There were complaints about some teachers coming late and other irregularities. Hence to keep tab we have formed a team who will take out surprise checks to see whether teaching faculties are punctual and whether they teach properly. During the surprise checks, the members will also take feedback from the students. If there are any irregularities, notice will be issued to teachers”.

To enhance teaching qualities, a committee has been set up as per state government’s direction to video record lectures of teachers and review them. Later the committee will give suggestions to lecturers to improve and also to share the best lectures with other departments in the university.
