Mysuru: “I am ready to accept the challenges and come up with flying colours by providing new projects to Mysoreans” said a promising S Venkateshan duly after taking his appointment as the new Executive Director of Mysuru Zoo on Thursday.

Addressing media persons at Zoo premises, he said, “I am thankful to the government for appointing me as the Executive Director of this historical Mysuru Zoo. My aim is to complete the initiated Master Plan of Mysuru Zoo.”

Earlier, appointed as CF to Mysuru a few years ago and promoted to Badra Wildlife, Venkateshan was happy that now he will have the chance to interact with people here for the second time.

Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK) Chairman Rehana Bhanu said the state government in recently held Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) meeting has approved the much awaited multi-level parking opposite the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens and we are optimistic of taking the project to further level.

ZAK is compiling the details of all the nine zoos of the state so as to present them on a website for the benefit of the public. The website gives details about the animals and birds. It will also upload the development activities taken up at the zoos. At present, Mysuru Zoo is the only facility to have a website. Once the new website is launched, the development works at all the zoos will be available at the click of a mouse. Followed by this, a video conferencing is also been planned. The device will have the unique character of windows plus android for the first time.

Zoo membership is will be provided to the wildlife enthusiasts who are interested about the activities of Zoo. They have to pay a minimal of Rs 500 to get lifetime membership and renew once a year. They will be provided with a shirt, cap and made a part of ZAK. With this, they will have the access for about 5 times to eight Zoos that come under ZAK and also promote adoption of animals.

If every plan goes accordingly then all these developmental activities will be launched before Dasara festivities she added.

As the district administration has kept Dasara a district level affair a tableaux from Zoo and an exhibition stall has been approved by the District in charge minister said Rehana Bhanu.
