Vintage Jawa bikes thunder on city roads yet again

Mysuru: The once famous Jawa later turned Yezdi bikes manufactured in the culture city roared yet again on city roads during a bike rally to recreate the past on September 24.

The Jawa/ Yezdi bike rally was flagged off the Vice Chancellor of Dr. Gangubhai Hangal University of music and performing arts Prof Sarvamangal Shankar at the Rangacharlu town hall.

More than 50 vintage Jawa/Yezdi bikes took part in the rally to bring back the memories of the past and whizzed past the city nodal points like clock tower, Mysuru palace,K R Circle, Devaraja Mraket, Vishweshawariah Bhavan and other prime heritage buildings in the city.

Owners arrived in their individual models and went round the each heritage buildings before hitting the rally route .

Jawa and Yezdi bikes were in vogue in the latter half of last century before Japanese models invaded Indian two –wheeler market. Jawa bikes manufactured in Mysuru were favourites among Indians who also took liking to Rajdooth and Royal Enfield bikes those days.
