Mysuru: The land chosen for proposed Vishnu memorial falls in B Kharab category wherein, it is meant for public use and cannot be cultivated by the occupant. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) has rights over the same and hence the land will be transferred to information and broadcasting department, opined Mysuru DC Randeep putting to rest all issues concerning the land.
It may be recalled, land occupant Hanumanayaka and his family had refused to part with 5 acre land in survey number 8 in Udbur of HD Kote taluk for the proposed Vishnu memorial. Due to occupant’s rigid stance, there were rumours about the proposed Vishnu memorial getting further delayed.
Chief Minister Siddaramiah had instructed the DC to verify the records and settle the issue. Based on his orders, Additional Deputy Commissioner Venkatesh was deployed to ascertain the facts. During verification, officials realised that the land was not registered in the occupants’ name and found that the occupants were cultivating in the land which belongs to the government.
Now, action is being taken by the DC to transfer the same to state Information and broadcasting department, setting to rest all speculations on dispute and delay.
At the same time, the DC assured of clearing the confusion in the mind of occupants through negotiations in the near future.
