Mysuru: With an intention to train young engineering college lecturers, the Visvesvaraya Technology University has planned to set up an Academic Staff College at Muddenahalli, Chikkaballapura district.
Karisiddappa, Vice Chancellor, VTU said, “There are nearly 217 engineering colleges across the state. With an intention to train young engineering lecturers those who have less than five years of teaching experience we are setting up an academic staff college by next academic year. We are planning to set up such colleges in all our regional centres including Mysuru. A two-week training will be taken up during vacation. During the training, classes on teaching methodology, curriculum delivery, lesson planning, body language and dealing with students will be imparted. Already to impart the training to faculties, the university has identified the experts and they are already on the job.”
Software to know each lecturer’s profile:
Karisiddappa also mentioned that software will be prepared to have all details of lecturers working in all engineering colleges across the state. “We have more than 217 engineering college across the state. To keep track on what exactly the teaching faculties at engineering colleges are doing, we are coming out with a software which will provide all the details including which subject they are taking, their experience, how many answer scripts they have evaluated and how many of them have come for re-valuation. Later after going through all the details, we will advise the lecturers or professors what they should do” said Karisiddappa.
