Mysuru: A family in Hanumanapura village, located in Nanjangud, had a narrow escape on Thursday when a portion of their house wall collapsed following intense rainfall in the region.
Shivakumar, the Nanjangud tahsildar, confirmed that the collapse was triggered by heavy downpour, which weakened the structure. While no injuries were reported and the family members escaped safely, several electronic appliances were damaged in the incident.
The affected home belongs to Siddaraju, a local resident. Authorities have assured the family that they will receive compensation after officials conduct a detailed damage assessment.
The district administration is also reviewing other rain-related incidents as the monsoon intensifies in parts of Mysuru district, especially in low-lying and vulnerable rural areas like Hanumanapura.
Officials urged residents in rain-prone zones to stay alert and report any structural vulnerabilities to local authorities to prevent similar incidents.
