Hunsur: The fire, which engulfed around 20 acres of land inside Nagarahole forest, was doused finally by the fire service personnel and forest staff.
The areas of land covering Berkolli, Kunthur and Bettamarada Halla which have rich bamboo vegetation were affected by the fire which spread in no time. The presence of dry grass, plants and wind caused the fire, according to villagers living in the surrounding areas.

Nagarahole Tiger Reserve Director Manikantan rushed to the spot immediately on hearing the news. He was accompanied by fire service and forest watchers to control the fire from spreading to other areas.

Five fire tenders from Mysuru and Madkeri, tribals, forest watchers, wildlife volunteers and students from Ponnampet College assisted the forest staff from Madikeri who demarcated the forest area to slow the progress of the wildfire.

The fire was finally doused after strenuous efforts and there has been no death of any wildlife due to the fire, according to forest department officials.
