Mysuru: Attempt to destroy evidence by the accused involved in a serious crime failed after cops tried to unearth the missing mobile phones by emptying the water in a pond in Hedathale village of Nanjangud taluk.

The police had arrested the accused in connection with a serious crime. During interrogation, the accused had confessed to their attempt to destroy evidence. They had told the investigating cops of throwing three mobile phones in the water-filled pond of Hedathale village.

On February 11, police under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Reddy, resorted to search for vital clues to nail the accused based on their confession. They fixed motor pumps to empty the pond in which mobile phones were thrown by the accused after committing the crime.

Finally, police met with success in their operation after they managed to extract all the three mobile phones from the pond by the evening of February 13.

Villagers were awestruck as they had no clue about the crime and the police action. However, police managed to collect the vital evidence they required, without anybody’s knowledge.
