The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a strong warning against the unauthorized installation of flex boards on roadsides, flyovers, and dividers across Karnataka’s coastal districts. Officials have vowed strict action against violators.

Despite the Mangaluru City Corporation imposing fines and enforcement measures within city limits, illegal banners continue to appear along national highways. NHAI Project Director Abdul Javed Azmi confirmed that complaints have been filed with the police regarding flex boards placed on flyovers, junctions, and other restricted areas. Authorities are actively monitoring the situation, ensuring that public spaces along highways remain advertisement-free.

According to IRC:46-1972 guidelines, flex boards are strictly prohibited within 100 meters of road junctions, urban highway stretches, bridges, or crossings. Advertisements cannot obstruct pedestrian movement or be placed between essential highway signboards. Banners, cut-outs, and flex boards on road dividers and edges are discouraged due to the risk of driver distraction.

NHAI has urged individuals and organizations to comply with these regulations to maintain road safety and avoid penalties.
