Channapatna: JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy has expressed strong confidence in his victory in the upcoming elections, despite what he describes as a concerted effort by the state government to challenge him in his constituency. Speaking at a campaign stop in Channapatna, Kumaraswamy made it clear that he believes the people of the area will stand by him, regardless of the tactics employed by his political rivals.
“The entire government is coming here to defeat me as part of their election strategy. Let them do their work, and we’ll focus on ours. No matter what tactics they try, the people of Channapatna won’t abandon me,” Kumaraswamy stated, addressing concerns over the heavy political opposition he is facing. His remarks came as he campaigned in several villages within the H. Byadarahalli Gram Panchayat area on Monday.
The JD(S) candidate visited key areas such as Mankunda, Huluvadi, Anigere, Tautenahalli, Tenkanahalli, and Guddehosur, where he interacted with local residents and continued to build support ahead of the election. Speaking to the media after his tour, Kumaraswamy directly responded to accusations that his family’s involvement in politics amounted to “family politics,” a criticism frequently levelled by Congress leaders.
“The people of the state are observing the accusations by Congress leaders about H.D. Kumaraswamy engaging in family politics. On November 13, they will receive their answer,” Kumaraswamy declared confidently. He suggested that the electorate would soon see that the JD(S) has served the people of the region well, and that the accusations were part of a broader strategy by political opponents to undermine his family’s legacy.
Kumaraswamy firmly stated that the decision ultimately rested with the voters of his constituency, adding, “I have the blessings of the people, and I am confident they will stand with us.”
The JD(S) candidate also reflected on the work done by his father, former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, and his grandfather, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, in shaping the region’s development. He said, “People are speaking about the work done by Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda. Their legacy has had a positive impact on the constituency, and that support continues to resonate with the voters.”
As the election date draws near, Kumaraswamy’s campaign has picked up momentum, especially with the growing enthusiasm among voters. On the day of his campaign, he visited the Bevuru ZP area, which he described as a vibrant part of his constituency. “With only a week left, the enthusiasm among the people gives me confidence that we will win by a significant margin,” he added, highlighting the positive reception he’s received from local residents.
His wife, Revathi, has also joined the campaign trail, contributing to efforts to reach out to voters, particularly women. “My wife campaigned on my behalf and connected with students, especially at the request of party workers. The women workers insisted on bringing her along,” Kumaraswamy explained. He pointed out that Revathi’s involvement was genuine and based on her natural connection to the area, as her mother hails from Samandipura village.
While some have speculated that the involvement of Revathi in the campaign may be a political move, Kumaraswamy clarified that it was not being used as a strategic tool to gain votes. “We aren’t using that as a campaign tool. It’s about the connection and support from the people. The focus remains on our work and our message to the voters,” he said.
Despite the pressure from opposition parties and the accusations being levelled against his family, Nikhil Kumaraswamy remains optimistic about his chances in the election. He believes that the people of Channapatna understand the contributions his family has made to the region and are keen to see continued progress under JD(S) leadership.
Kumaraswamy’s confidence in his support base, bolstered by his active campaigning and the involvement of his wife, underscores his belief that the people of his constituency are with him. As the election draws closer, he is focused on ensuring that his campaign message of development, legacy, and dedication to the people reaches every corner of Channapatna.
With less than a week to go until the election, Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s campaign continues to gather momentum as he pushes forward with his message of strong leadership and unwavering support for his constituents. While the government’s efforts to challenge his candidacy are significant, Kumaraswamy is confident that the voters will back him for another term.
