No boating at Ranganathittu bird sanctuary as KRS releases water into river

Mandya: With increase in water level at Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam, the water is being released to Cauvery River inturn increasing its water level. This has made Forest Department authorities at Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary near Srirangapattana to temporarily stall boating service at the bird sanctuary from Friday November 5 However, the bird sanctuary is open to public visit.

A board informing the tourists about suspension of boating service has been displayed at the entrance of the bird sanctuary. Keeping in mind the safety of the tourists, the boating service will be stalled till the water level decreases in the river.

It can be noted that on Saturday November 6, the water inflow into KRS Dam was 8,575 cusecs and the total outflow was 8,366 cusecs, while on Sunday November 7 the inflow was 10,658 cusecs and outflow was 10,449 cusecs.
