Yadgiri: A joint operation by the Food Civil Supplies Department and police led to the seizure of 142 quintals (284 bags) of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice valued at ₹4.76 lakh near the Bhimarayanagudi canal. The rice, intended for ration distribution, was being transported illegally by a lorry.
The rice had been fraudulently obtained from a fair price shop and was being covertly moved from Jewargi through Shahpur to Hyderabad. The driver, Raju, was instructed by Chandra from Jewargi to carry the ration rice. Raju has been arrested and is now in judicial custody, with a formal complaint filed at Bhimarayanagudi police station.
