Mangaluru: Big milestone for New Mangaluru Port. For the first time, NMPT has witnessed the arrival of M.V. Minoan Grace on August 29 to load 22825 MT of Steel Cargo (HR/CR Coils, Slabs, Billets, TMT and so on) of M/s JSW to different Ports such as Damietta in Egypt and Marghera in Italy and Sagunto in Spain. The vessel is berthed at B.No.3 and the handling operation is in progress. The vessel is having a GRT of 33044 and DWT of 57000MT. This is first its kind export consignment from New Mangaluru Port Trust. M/s Hiralal, Mangaluru are the Steamer and M/s Delta is the Stevedoring and shore handling agents of the vessel. After finishing the loading operation, the vessel sailed September 3. The Port has extended all the committed resources and infrastructure to make the handling hassle-free and a pleasant stay of the vessel.
Dr. A.V. Ramana, Chairman, NMPT while expressing happiness over the first time handling of such Export of steel cargo and patronising of the Port by a leading business house of the country i:e M/s JSW limited, also appraised the port’s multi-dimensional friendly initiatives made this happen such as online gate admittance, improved storage facilities, better service and cost-effective measures. He is also hopeful that this will encourage other Exporters for shipment of break bulk cargo through the Port in the coming days.
