Mysuru: Congress is all for the fast implementation of Mekedatu Project, averred Former Chief Minister and Opposition Party Leader Siddaramaiah here on Tuesday November 9.
Speaking to media persons here Siddaramaiah was reacting to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai questioning Congress’ proposed padayatra in support of the Mekedatu project. He said, “Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Mekedatu was done during the Congress regime. The project was sent to the Centre long back but clearance has not come yet. Even the court is okay with it. But Tamil Nadu is questioning the issue unnecessarily.”
Siddaramaiah said, “It is more than two years since the BJP Government came to power. We are holding padayatra for the fast implementation of the project. Bommai feels we are adopting pressure tactics. Unless we put pressure on them, they won’t do anything.”
Congress leader said, “Forget what we are saying, they can start the work on their own. I can’t understand why they are delaying the work? The apex court has also not said anything against the project. If Tamil Nadu is objecting to it, it has no legal standing.”
