Bengaluru faces Bharath Bandh turmoil

Bengaluru: The residents in the city were in for some hard times on Wednesday, September 2, after the country geared up for the one day national strike called by the Central trade unions to protest against the labour reforms proposed by the Narendra Modi-led BJP government.

Even though several union leaders warned that essential services like transport and supply of power, gas and oil would be affected, Bharath Mazdoor Sangh had said that these services would not be affected as public sector workers were not participating in the nationwide strike. However, people had to face the turmoil.

The BMTC Bus station wore a deserted look as people slumbered on the bus stop itself waiting for their respective buses. On the other hand, all buses at KSRTC were lined up, out of service.

Meanwhile, the Bengaluru railway station also had to face the heat, as people kept waiting for rickshaws due to limited service.

The State government offices were empty at MS Building during adhering to Bharath Bundh.

In the previous nationwide strike on April 30, the situation had turned violent in Bengaluru. The protesters had damaged 25 buses of BMTC and eight buses of KSRTC.
