Bengaluru: Ganesha Chaturthi is one of the most popular festivals in the State. This year, the festival will be celebrated on September 10. However, keeping in mind the prevailing Covid-19 scenario, the State Government has imposed a certain restriction to ensure that the festival celebration will not trigger the Covid – 19 outbreak which is under control now.
Meanwhile, the State Pollution Control Board has come out with a unique plan to make the people celebrate the festival in an eco-friendly way. The board launched the turmeric Ganesha idol contest. The board has set a target of 10 lakh such idols and creating a world record. As the turmeric Ganesha idol will be prepared using the turmeric powder and neem leaf powder, when it is immersed into water, it will not affect the water bodies. They will be eco-friendly.
The public is requested to visit turmericganesha.com and upload their Ganesha idols between September 8, 9, and 10. The best idol will be given a prize by the board.
It can be recalled that last year also the board had conducted this drive. But the response was moderate. This year the board is making all the efforts to make this drive popular.
