Priority will be given to prevent sea erosion: Lakshmi Hebbalkar

Udupi: District in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar said that priority will be given to carrying out a permanent solution during his term to prevent sea erosion that occurs every year in the district.

She spoke today after seeing the sea cut area at Kadipatna in Padubidre.

She said that sea erosion has been happening in the district during the rainy season for many years and in this regard, permanent work will be carried out in collaboration with the state government and the central government.

Even though the rains started late in the district this time, seven people have died due to the natural calamity and their families have received Rs. She said that a compensation of five lakhs has been distributed and all the officials of the district have been instructed to take adequate precautionary measures to prevent loss of lives due to rains in the district.

The Minister directed the authorities to immediately distribute suitable compensation regarding the loss of human life, house damage, and cattle damage due to rain and said that necessary action will be taken after receiving information about the construction of foot wells and the construction of Kindi Dam in the district.

Kapu MLA Suresh Shetty Gurme, District Collector Kurmarao M, G.P. CEO Prasanna H, Superintendent of Police Akshay M Hawke, Tehsildar Srinivasa Kulkarni and others were present.
