A large-scale civil defence mock drill was conducted on Friday at the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) in Shakti Nagar, aimed at enhancing emergency response and the preparedness of armed forces during potential war or crisis situations.
The drill began at 4 PM, with mock bomb detonations at three locations, triggering a full-scale emergency response. The public quickly alerted the police control room, and rescue teams were deployed, shifting the “injured” to Shakti Nagar PHC and Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences.
Teams from the bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and fire brigade responded swiftly, demonstrating coordination in fire extinguishing and site cordoning. The drill also served to raise public awareness about the vulnerability of key infrastructure like Yermarus Thermal Power Station (YTPS) and chemical factories in the region.
Personnel from Civil Police, Home Guards, CISF, and SDRF participated, under the supervision of top district officials including Deputy Commissioner Nitish K, ZP CEO Rahul Pandve, Additional DC Shivanand Bhajantri, Assistant Commissioner Gajanan Bale, and MLA Basanagouda Daddal.
