Leaders from various organizations, led by the Devadurga Taluk AIIMS Struggle Committee, submitted a petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Tehsildar Channamallappa Ghanti, urging the establishment of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raichur.

H. Sivaraja, Kasapa Taluk president, emphasized that setting up a national-level higher education center like AIIMS would address the regional imbalance in Raichur district, as recommended in the Nanjundappa report. He expressed disappointment over the state and central governments’ decision to establish an IIT in Dharwad instead of Raichur and demanded justice by allocating AIIMS to the district.

The petition was supported by various leaders, including Nursing Rao Circle, Ramanna Nayak, D. Karadigudda, Nursing Rao, Maipalreddy, Mahadevappa Chikkabooduru, Nagaraja Khanapura, Niranjan, Shivaraja Rudrakshi, Venkatareddy, and T. Jayaraja, president of the Kannada Defense Sena taluk unit.
