Raichur’s Krishi Samudaya Banuli Kendra, the Agricultural FM station run by the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), is now expanding its reach globally through online streaming in Kannada and soon in English. Initially launched in 2023 on 89.6 MHz, the station was limited to Kannada-language broadcasts, catering to farmers in a 20-kilometre radius.

Listeners can now tune into agriculture-related content worldwide by downloading the KKCRS Raichur Android app. The soft launch of this digital transformation took place on May 27. “We aim to connect our farmers with international experts while offering practical knowledge to global audiences interested in agri-tech,” said Vice-Chancellor Dr. M Hanumanthappa.

To support this digital leap, UAS Raichur has developed a modern recording studio equipped with advanced broadcasting tools, matching standards of mainstream FM stations. The Directorate of Agricultural Extension is spearheading the transition to radio-plus-digital dissemination.

The app’s ease of access on Android devices makes it a convenient tool for farmers. The station will soon become the first in Karnataka to air agriculture-themed programmes in both Kannada and English.

Currently, live programmes are aired daily from 6–9 am and 6–9 pm. With the help of a dedicated QR code and mobile streaming, thousands of farmers are now receiving valuable content.

Listeners can explore shows featuring experts, research updates, horticulture, weather reports, rural arts, and farmer interviews, enriching both knowledge and entertainment for the agri-community worldwide.

The official launch event is on the horizon, with dates to be declared soon.
