
Raichur becomes extremely hot as mercury soars past 40°C
Raichur district has witnessed a significant temperature spike over the past 24 hours, with several locations recording extreme heat levels.
According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), Gurgunta Hobli registered the highest temperature in the state, touching a scorching 40.4°C, followed closely by Huda Hobli at 40°C. Other areas also faced intense heat, with Salagundi recording 39.7°C, Kallur at 39.5°C, and Gorebal at 39.1°C.
Beyond Raichur, Belagavi’s Nipani Hobli also saw soaring temperatures, hitting 39.6°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that maximum temperatures in parts of Coastal Karnataka were 1.6°C to 3°C above normal, while the rest of the state remained within the typical range.
Hot and muggy conditions are expected to persist in Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts for the next three days, prompting authorities to advise residents to stay hydrated and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
