In an unfortunate incident, a 78-year-old woman, Puttamma, was robbed twice in less than an hour in Ramanagara district, Bengaluru. The victim, a resident of Kanakanagara, was on her way to a temple in Appagere on Saturday afternoon when she became the target of two separate robberies.

Between 4:30 pm and 5:15 pm, Puttamma was first approached by a scooter-borne miscreant who attempted to snatch her gold chain. He managed to get away with half of it while the elderly woman held on to the rest.

Shortly after, another man on a bike appeared, claiming to help her catch the thief. He offered to take her to track down the first robber. However, once he dropped her off at CMC Town, near her home, he seized the remaining half of the chain. The man threatened to throw acid on Puttamma while demanding her gold bangles and earrings, brandishing a bottle of liquid. In a fortunate turn of events, the liquid turned out to be kerosene. The man splashed it on her face and sped away.

Puttamma screamed for help, attracting the attention of locals who rushed to her aid. Her son, Sreenivas, filed a police complaint. A case of robbery has been registered, and authorities are actively searching for the two unidentified suspects.
