Man Arrested for Disturbing Act of Animal Cruelty in Karnataka
In a disturbing and repulsive incident, a man was caught raping a stray dog in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district on Saturday. The public witnessed the horrific act on Sathanur road near Channapatna town, immediately intervening by beating the man before handing him over to the police.
The accused, identified as Basava, was caught in the act while the dog was tied up. Although the man was arrested, the case is still under investigation as the individuals who apprehended him chose not to file a formal complaint. However, animal rights activists are furious, and the police are contemplating taking suo motu action against the accused.
This shocking act follows similar disturbing incidents in the state. In Chikkamagaluru, a youth was arrested for attempting to sexually assault a stray dog while intoxicated. CCTV footage of the incident, which went viral on social media, led to the arrest. Another appalling case took place in Udupi, where a man was charged for dragging a dog for over six kilometers, tied to his scooter, leading to a police investigation. The accused, Abdul Khader, faced charges under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Indian Penal Code.
These cases highlight the growing concern about animal abuse in Karnataka, prompting public outrage and calls for stricter laws to protect animals.
