A school bus carrying students from St. Anthony’s High School in Hosadurga, Chitradurga district, overturned on Sunday while returning from a trip to Ganeshgudi, Dandeli. The bus, which was transporting students who had been engaged in water sports, lost control and veered into a roadside gutter, causing the accident.

Local residents and nearby resort staff responded quickly to the emergency, pulling the students from the wreckage. Among the rescuers were Rafiq Kutty, Irshad Khan, Ashfaq Naika, Mehboob Mujawar, and Ramesh Nadara, whose timely efforts were crucial in ensuring the safety of the children. The injured students were swiftly transported to Dandeli Government Hospital in ambulances for medical treatment.

The incident prompted a visit from the Ramanagara Police, who are currently investigating the cause of the crash. The injured students are receiving treatment at the hospital, though the extent of their injuries is not yet clear.

The quick response from locals and resort staff likely prevented further injuries, and the community’s efforts have been widely praised. Authorities are working to determine if any negligence or technical issues contributed to the accident.
