Recovery of Missing Truck Driver’s Body After Landslide in Karnataka
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] September 25 (Ani): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Wednesday that the body of Arjun, a truck driver from Kerala, has been recovered following a landslide in Shiroor, located in Uttara Kannada district. The Chief Minister confirmed the discovery of the body buried beneath the rubble on his X account.
Arjun, who hailed from Kerala, was reported missing after the landslide that occurred on July 16. “The state government has successfully located the body of the Kerala truck driver, alongside the truck that was also entombed in the debris from the landslide in Shiroor,” Siddaramaiah stated. He emphasized that the primary focus from the outset was to rescue Arjun and others swept away by the river. However, the relentless rains and swiftly flowing waters complicated rescue operations. Sadly, many did not survive the tragic incident.
Siddaramaiah conveyed his condolences for the victims of this unfortunate event. He highlighted that both the truck and the driver’s remains were recovered by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the disaster management team today. “While some bodies were retrieved earlier, today marks the conclusion of our search as we have finally recovered the driver’s body along with the truck buried in the mud,” he added. Arjun’s body was missing for a duration of 70 days.
