Bengaluru: BBMP has written to the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) to take action against the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) as complaints of sewage being released to lakes in the City are on the rise.
BBMP officials alleged that the sewerage board failed to prevent the entry of sewage, especially untreated sewage into lakes. According to BBMP sources, it is upto the BDA and BWSSB to address issues regarding the lake and then handover custody of the water body to the BBMP.
According to the report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, out of the 1,440 MLD sewage generated in BBMP area, about 780 MLD (54 per cent) was discharged into storm water drains without treatment. “
Over the years, sewage has entered many makes across the City despite their rejuvenation.
