B.y. Raghavendra Secures Fourth Victory In Shivamogga Parliamentary Seat

Bengaluru, Jun 4 (IANS): Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP Central Parliamentary Committee member B.S. Yediyurappa’s son, B.Y. Raghavendra, has secured a resounding victory in the Shivamogga parliamentary seat, winning by a margin of 2.43 lakh votes. This marks Raghavendra’s fourth consecutive victory from this constituency, solidifying his stronghold in the region.

Raghavendra’s nearest rival, Geetha Shivarajkumar from the Congress, garnered 5.35 lakh votes. Despite a spirited campaign, she was unable to overcome the significant support for Raghavendra in Shivamogga. The election also saw the participation of expelled BJP leader and independent candidate K.S. Eshwarappa, who managed to secure only 30,050 votes, highlighting the dominance of mainstream party candidates in this election.

Raghavendra’s victory is seen as a continuation of the Yediyurappa legacy in Shivamogga, where the family has maintained substantial influence. This win not only strengthens his political career but also reaffirms the BJP’s strong presence in the region. The victory is a testament to the effective campaign strategies and the support base cultivated by the BJP in Shivamogga.

This election result underscores the continuing popularity of the BJP in Karnataka, particularly in the Shivamogga constituency, and sets the stage for future political developments in the state.
