Hosanagar: A tourist from Bengaluru washed away while visiting Yaduru Abbi Falls in the taluk on Sunday. 26-year old Vinod, an employee working at a firm in Bengaluru, and a native of Ballari, slipped and fell into the water while viewing the waterfall. He is suspected to have died as he did not resurface from the pond.
PSI Ramesh from the town police station and the fire department have arrived at the scene and are conducting an operation. Vinod was part of a group of 12 young men who had come for a weekend trip. They had visited Kodachadri Hill before coming to Yaduru Abbi Falls.
Last year, following the death of another tourist, the path to Abbi Falls was restricted by digging a trench. However, the young men had parked their vehicle and walked 1.5 km to reach the falls.
