Shivamogga: The District Court has mandated the confiscation of furniture from the Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner’s office due to delays in compensating a landowner for property acquired for road development.
In 2011, the Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project (K-SHIP) acquired land from Agadi Ashok of Shiralakoppa, Shikaripur taluk. Ashok subsequently approached the court, alleging non-payment of the required compensation.
The High Court had previously directed a payment of Rs 4.44 crore to Ashok, with Rs 3.93 crore to be settled within three months. The failure to meet this deadline led the District Court to order the confiscation of the Deputy Commissioner’s office furniture, with the items to remain in custody until further notice. The ruling was issued by the Third Additional District and Sessions Judge.
Advocates PV Khare and Dinkar Bhat are representing Ashok in this case.
