In a surprising incident, a mobile tower and its essential components were stolen from Tipu Nagar, Shivamogga. Installed by a private telecom company in 2008, the tower became challenging to maintain during the Covid-19 pandemic. Upon returning in 2023, the company’s staff discovered that the tower and spare parts, valued at ₹46.30 lakh, had vanished.
Following a court directive, Tunganagar police registered a theft case on Wednesday and began investigating the heist. Inspector NT Gururaj suspects scrap merchants may have dismantled and sold off the tower. Investigators are working to identify the culprits behind this complex operation.
