During a visit to Mandya on Friday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed that he has been receiving threatening calls, a revelation made while addressing the media’s questions about similar threats made to Assembly Speaker UT Khader.

“I’ve also received threat calls,” the CM stated, adding that the police have been alerted and are working to trace the culprits and take action.

On the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru, Siddaramaiah said he has spoken to the police and dispatched ADGP (Law & Order) to probe the matter. “Suhas had a rowdy history. We’re yet to confirm whether the murder was premeditated—that will be established during the investigation,” he noted. He emphasized that every life holds value, and legal action will be ensured against those responsible.

When asked about BJP leaders visiting Shetty’s final rites, the CM accused the party of politicizing tragedies. He also criticized the BJP for its silence on the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, including foreign tourists. “Where was PM Modi? Isn’t that a security lapse?” he questioned.

Responding to concerns over rising liquor prices, Siddaramaiah defended it as part of a temperance strategy: “We aim to curb alcohol consumption, not ban it entirely.”
