Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has landed in yet another controversy after a video surfaced showing him nearly slapping an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) during a public event in Belagavi. The footage captured Siddaramaiah angrily summoning ASP Narayan Bharamani onto the stage, raising his hand in apparent frustration before restraining himself.
The confrontation reportedly arose due to protests by BJP women workers near the venue, which ASP Bharamani was tasked with securing. Dissatisfied with the security arrangements, Siddaramaiah publicly scolded the officer, demanding, “You, whoever you are, come here, what were you doing?” His agitated demeanor was widely criticized.
Following the incident, the Janata Dal (Secular) slammed Siddaramaiah on social media, accusing him of arrogance and misconduct. In a stern post, the JDS called it an “unforgivable crime” to threaten a government officer publicly and reminded that while political power is temporary, public service by officials spans decades.
This episode has intensified the political tension in Karnataka, further tarnishing Siddaramaiah’s image at a time when his government already faces scrutiny on multiple fronts.
