Bidar: Naranja Co-operative Sugar Factory Chairman D.K. Siddharam implored his political adversaries, saying, “Ask for my resignation if needed, but protect the factory”.
He made these remarks during the 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Naranja Co-operative Sugar Factory, held in the vicinity of Janwada, Bidar taluk, on Monday. Siddharam stressed the importance of preventing the factory’s closure to avoid adverse consequences for the district’s farmers.
The outstanding payments to sugarcane farmers have been settled by generating revenue of Rs 78 crore through sugar sales from the facility. These sales were conducted with proper court authorization, and there were no irregularities, he stated. “The factory’s overall assets amount to Rs 800 crore, while its outstanding debt stands at Rs 669 crore,” he added.
In the fiscal year 2022-23, the factory processed 3.59 lakh metric tonnes of sugarcane, resulting in the production of 3.42 lakh quintals of sugar, achieving a recovery rate of 9.40 percent,” he reported. “The factory generated revenue of Rs 119.28 crore through sugar sales,” he added.
The factory’s sugarcane crushing season is scheduled to commence in early November. Contracts for harvesting and transporting sugarcane have already been finalized with contractors, he noted.
Vice-President Balaji Chavan, DCC Bank President Umakant Nagamarapalli, who also serves as a director of the factory, along with factory directors Rajkumar Karanji, Shankarappa Patil, Shashikumar Patil Sangama, Zareppa Mamadapure, Mallamma Patil, Shobhavati Patil, Sitaram Rathod, Veerashetty Patne, Nagareddy Yache, Shivabasappa Channamalle, Sidrama Waghmare, Vijaykumar P Patil, and Managing Director B.S. Aparanj were present.
