BENGALURU: S. Shabarish, a 29-year-old software engineer from Salem, Tamil Nadu, died in a tragic road accident early Tuesday. Shabarish was in Bengaluru to collect his US visa. The accident occurred around 3:45 am when the car he was traveling in fell from the Yeshwantpur flyover.
The vehicle, driven by Mithun Chakravarthy, lost control on a curve, jumped the road median, and collided with a motorcycle before plunging 40 feet off the flyover. Shabarish, who was seated next to Chakravarthy, was killed. All other passengers—Chakravarthy, Anushree, and Shankar Ram—are critically injured and in the hospital.
The group, which had arrived in Bengaluru the previous day, had spent the day shopping and visiting a mall and pub before the accident. The car was reportedly speeding over 120 kmph, and an empty alcohol bottle was found inside, raising suspicions of intoxication.
