BAILHONGAL: The Someshwar Cooperative Sugar Factory has set a target to crush 4 lakh metric tons of sugarcane this season, with an expected average sugar recovery rate of 11.30 percent. Factory chairman Basavaraj Balekundagi emphasized the need for sugarcane farmers to supply high-quality cane in large quantities.

During the inauguration ceremony for the 2024-25 season’s boiler lighting and cane crushing operations, Balekundagi elaborated on the factory’s plans. “We have arranged cane cutting gangs to ensure farmers face no difficulties. The factory is taking steps to establish a 100 KLPD ethanol unit, expand crushing capacity from 2500 TCD to 4500 TCD, and upgrade the co-generation unit from 6 megawatts to 12 megawatts. It’s essential for our board members, workers, and staff to encourage farmers to supply more sugarcane,” he stated.

Gangadhar Swamiji of Hosur Guru Madivaleshwara Math and Abhinava Siddalinga Swamiji of Nayanagar, who attended the event, acknowledged the contributions of the late R.C. Balekundagi, highlighting the importance of supplying quality sugarcane without expecting higher prices for the factory’s growth.

Director Mallappa Ashtagipura recognized the legacy of R.C. Balekundagi, noting the challenges of establishing a cooperative institution amid competition from private factories. “Despite these challenges, our factory continues to serve farmers well. We need everyone’s continued cooperation,” he remarked.

The board members of Bailhongal Someshwar Cooperative Sugar Factory officially launched the crushing season on Thursday. Vice President Mahantesh Mattikoppa, Managing Director Birendra, and directors Prakash Moogabasava, Rachappa Matti, Ashok Yaragoppa, Anita Metagudda, Kasturi Somanatti, Adrushappa Kotabagi, and Ashok Balekundagi were also present at the event.
