Bengaluru – Ricky Rai, son of late underworld figure N. Muthappa Rai, was allegedly shot at by unidentified assailants near his residence in Bidadi, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, during the early hours of Saturday.
The attack reportedly took place between 1:00 am and 1:30 am, when Ricky was travelling by car from Bidadi to Bengaluru. He was seated in the rear seat of the vehicle alongside his gunman when a bullet fired by the attackers struck the driver’s seat, injuring both Rai and the driver.
Police officials confirmed that Ricky Rai is undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru. While the exact nature of his injuries is yet to be disclosed, sources say he is out of immediate danger.
Authorities have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the attackers. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage, questioning witnesses, and tracing the vehicle movement in and around the crime scene. Security in the Bidadi area has been tightened in the wake of the incident.
