Trucks from Tamil Nadu have been urged to avoid entering Karnataka due to an ongoing indefinite strike initiated by transporters in the neighbouring state, starting from midnight Monday. This advisory was issued by C. Dhanraj, President of the Federation of Tamil Nadu Lorry Owners’ Association (FTNLOA).

The strike was launched by the Karnataka Lorry Owners and Booking Agents Association to highlight several grievances. Key among their demands are the rollback of the recent sales tax increase, removal of toll charges, and the dismantling of RTO checkpoints at border areas. The association is also appealing for the elimination of the Union government’s requirement to pay ₹15,000 for fitness certificate renewals and is seeking ease of ‘no entry’ restrictions in Bengaluru.

Dhanraj emphasized that, as a precaution, trucks registered in Tamil Nadu will refrain from crossing into Karnataka until the situation is amicably resolved. This move is aimed at avoiding disruptions and ensuring the safety of lorry drivers and goods in transit.

The protest is expected to impact inter-state transport and could potentially affect supply chains if prolonged.
