A travel vlogger’s candid video highlighting the challenges of travelling with an Indian passport has struck a nerve online, garnering over 7 million views in just two days. Posting under the handle @OnRoadIndian, the creator held up his passport in a now-viral clip, calling it a document with “no value” in many parts of the world.
“Don’t get excited about Thailand or Sri Lanka. Our passport is of no use in tougher countries,” he said in Hindi, citing how he was recently denied entry into Jordan despite having a clean travel history, money, and all required documents.
The vlogger expressed deep frustration over increasing restrictions faced by Indian travelers:
- Countries like Egypt now demand an invitation letter
- China gives Indians only 24-hour visa-free transit, compared to 10 days for others
- He added that visa-free and visa-on-arrival options are slowly disappearing
“I have everything in place—money, documents, history. But the moment they see my passport, I get checked. Sometimes, denied. It hurts,” he said, calling out systemic distrust toward Indian passport holders.
India recently dropped to 85th place in the Henley Passport Index 2025, slipping from its previous rank of 80th, intensifying concerns about travel freedom for Indian citizens.
The viral video has sparked a wider debate in the comments section, with some users echoing the vlogger’s sentiment, while others argued it’s an exaggeration or a global security norm.
