Trade between Goa and Belagavi is being significantly disrupted by poor road conditions and harassment by enforcement authorities. The 10-km stretch from Anmod to Ramnagar remains incomplete, and the Chorla Ghat road requires resurfacing. These issues are impacting the movement of goods, including manufactured products and daily supplies like vegetables.

To address these problems, the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and the Belgaum Chamber of Commerce and Industries have agreed to collaborate. Chandrakant Gawas, GCCI’s logistics committee chairman, highlighted that some companies have shifted their cargo operations from Goa to Mangaluru due to road conditions.

Future plans include enhancing road connectivity, such as widening the route between Mopa and Belagavi via Tillari Ghat. However, both regions face challenges with harassment by traffic authorities. Belagavi MLA Abhay Patil has urged the Belagavi administration to end such practices, while GCCI is encouraged to address similar issues faced by Karnataka vehicles in Goa.
